page 19). Each entry in the Event Log is stamped with the date and time of day. Problems
with the date and time function can include:
• Date and time shown is Fri Dec 31 00:00:00 1999 or a similar incorrect date and time.
Cause: The wireless access point has not yet successfully reached the Network Time
Server. Check that your Internet access settings are configured correctly. If you have just
completed configuring the wireless access point, wait at least five minutes and check the
date and time again.
• The day is correct or one day ahead or behind, and the hours are ahead or behind.
Cause: You have selected an incorrect time zone for your area. Specify the correct time
zone in the Basic Settings screen (see
“Configuring Basic System Settings” on page 19).
Using the Diagnostic Tools
You can perform diagnostic tasks such as pinging an IP address, tracing a route to an IP
address, and performing a DNS lookup.
Health Check
The health check consist of a ping packet request that is sent continuously to a host that you
specify at an interval that you specify.
To configure a health check:
1. Log in to the wireless access point at its default LAN address of http://192.168.0.229
with its default user name of admin and default password of password, or using
whatever LAN address, user name, and password you have chosen for the wireless
access point.
2. Select Configuration > Advanced > Health Check. The Health Check screen displays
(see
Figure 6-1 on page 117).
